MLB The Show 18 Stubs stays one of the best

  • Graphically, MLB The Show 18 Stubs stays one of the best looking sports games on the market, no doubt as a result of the fact that it is only made and optimized for the PlayStation 4. Stadiums are true to life, lighting is exceptional at all times of the day and many of developments have been made to the caliber of player models. I adore all the subtle but effective improvements made throughout the title. Players can now wear face masks, so the Yankees give the thumbs down on big hits and the Mets fanatics are far out in the bleachers yelling it up.

Crowds are now dynamic, meaning a day game in June will see much less fans in the stands compared to state that an extreme mid-September showdown while Dodger Stadium sees a slow to arrive audience -- unless it is the playoffs. All these small tweaks make The Show 18 feel like a true representation of the game, and it is this newfound swagger which makes the game feel much more fun. The sole downside of the presentation package is the comment that can nevertheless feel disjoined and repetitive occasionally. It is beginning to fall far behind the excellent commentary found in Madden and NBA 2K.

Why the mode was so enjoyable

Gameplay is much improved this season, as hitting has been refined and adjusted to better reflect good swing choices. Players are rewarded for assaulting errors down the middle instead of buy MLB 18 stubs swinging at good pitches that are painting the corners. I discovered that whenever I was patient at the plate my group would find greater success. Pitching is still as precise as usual, but you're certainly penalized more for poor throws. The Display 18 now features a ton of new fielding animations too, and plays to the ball texture silky smooth. I really could turn double plays with ease and the ability to fluidly move the ball around the bases or in from the outfield was noticeably improved. The amount of errors committed in The Show 18 is much lower thanks to these modifications.
